Windows Azureの新しい割引プランが発表されました。6カ月あるいは12カ月といった継続利用を前提に最大32％の割引が受けられます。また、8月に発表されたモバイルデバイス向けのアプリケーションプラットフォームが新たにiOSとAndroidに対応しました。
継続利用を約束するコミットメントプランで最大32％割引に
2012年9月27日、Windows Azureを6カ月/12カ月継続して、月々一定以上の利用を約束するコミットメントプランで、ボリュームディスカウント割引が更新されました。
月々4万3700円以上を利用する場合は、従量課金料金の20～27％となり、さらに（1）プリペイド（先払い）で支払うと2.5％割引、（2）12カ月コミットメントのには6カ月コミットメントより2.5％割引となり、合計で最大32％の割引となります。

Mobile servicesのSDKをOSS公開、iOS/Androidにも対応
Windows 8や各種スマートフォン向けのアプリケーションを容易に作成できるプラットフォームとして「Windows Azure Mobile Services」がプレビュー公開されています（関連記事）。
2012年9月20日、このWindows Azure Mobile Servicesのアプリケーション開発キットである「Windows Azure Mobile Services SDK」がGitHubで公開され、オープンソースライセンスとして利用できるようになりました。また、iOSおよびAndroid対応がパートナーのXamarin社によって進められており、GitHubでiOS版SDKとAndroid版SDKおよびとサンプルが公開されています。
なお、2012年8月更新版の「Windows Azure Training Kit」として公開されている、トレーニングコンテンツなども、日本語を含む多国語対応となって公開されています。ここには、Windows Azure Mobile Servicesの概要、Windows 8向けWindowsストアアプリのテンプレートの利用方法、Live Connectを利用したプッシュ型通知およびユーザー認証の機能追加などが含まれています。
